Sinbad’s is just a short stride from the Belmont Red, Purple and Brown line stop in Lakeview. I wasn’t really heading out looking for Mediterranean Cuisine, I was looking for something simple and reasonably healthy, so what was I doing in Belmont.
There are lots of places to eat, but somehow I was drawn in through these doors today.
In the end I got the special of Chicken Shawarma Pita with fries and a drink for around $7. The sandwich was described as being comprised of thinly sliced seasoned chicken with lettuce, tomato and tahini sauce in a pita.
The chicken was really quite good, not so much sliced thinly as carved off one of those revolving rotisseries, it was moist, juicy, and lightly flavourful. The whole sandwich didn’t really work for me in a pita pocket as it fell apart in my hands so in the end I ripped it open and ate the chicken on its own.
I would probably just get a platter of the meat another time.
Also worth mentioning that the guy at the counter was really happy and gave everyone a great welcome.
