Lets just get right down to it. This place has great Italian Pizza
Forget Chicago style, Brooklyn, or New York pizza. This is how pizza should be cooked.
The menu is divided up into pizze rosa and pizze bianca (red and white pizza basically with or without a tomato sauce). I went from the white side and picked the beauty above ‘Prosciutto e Rucola’ which was Provola, Prosciutto di Parma, Arugula, Parmesan, to which I added mushroom, to the delight of my waiter who thought that would go very well.
Next visit I may ask if I can add M&M’s to see if I get the same response (just the red ones though). The pizza was really good, the most unlikely component for me to enjoy was the arugula or rocket as we UK folks would call it. The peppery taste and crunch really worked. It actually made me wish that I had taken a salad as a starter.
The crust is also great nice and charred to give that brick oven taste, Parmesan cheese was both a little nutty and a good salty taste. The prosciutto was also very flavoursome.
Overall a damned good tasty pizza. I will definitely come back and it was even nice enough that I would not be ashamed to bring any out of towners here, mind you I might not bring an Italian from Napoli, that might just be pushing it.
To get here take the Brown line to Montrose and walk a minute east then north following the metra tracks and you will hit the place just before Sunnyside place
